SOTU Babbling

The man of the hour showed up looking feeble as if he needed to be shored up. He got plenty of support from fellow Republicans. They acted like the Messiah had showed up or was it Hitler? Anyway, the accolade was loud and boisterous as they welcomed one of their own.

The address took almost two hours to get the message across. The “babbling” took off the minute he opened his mouth and it just kept on going. It didn’t matter if it was fact-based, that was never his strong suit. Myth, untruths, and factless assumptions were all there. Nothing new here, he has always adhered to “tactics” to push his agenda and has done so with little knowledge of any one subject. This is his expertise. Take something that is not true and push it as the absolute TRUTH!

He droned on keeping the Republicans captivated. What were the Democrats doing? They were silent for the most part except for Rep. Al Green, the lone crusader, holding a sign that read, “Black People Aren’t Apes.” He showed bravado and courage as he stood alone in a sea of Republicans willing to do battle and to stand up for what’s right. We need more people like him.

However, Trump was in his element. His fantasies and distortions were on full display and so were his lies and racist assumptions. The rambling two-hour address encompassed all of the above and more. One source called the address, “heavy on falsehoods, ad libs, and digressions that sometimes seemed like bids to kill time – and remarkably light on policy substance.”

That has always been the case, light on substance, I mean. He went on to denigrate immigrants, tarring and feathering them all with the same brush. According to him, they are criminals, inferior, and they bring crime into the country. He had or has believers swallowing that line, hook, line, and sinker! He also blamed the Somali-American population for importing corruption to the United States. “There are large parts of the world where bribery, fraud, and corruption are the norm, not the exception.”

The pot calling the kettle black?

The State of the Union address lacked truths, had very little substance, furthered divisive racist talk and didn’t do much to bring “the people” together. That’s just my opinion.

In his February 2025 State of the State address, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker gave an eye-opening and powerful speech that still resonates today. Only problem is that what he predicted back then is happening today and in the most horrible and disgusting fashion. The terror unleashed on the streets of Minneapolis and the killing of two innocent civilians, Renee Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and ICU Nurse Alex Pretti, who was 37 at the time, by ICE agents under the guise of the Trump administration makes for a sickening realization that something else is at work here and it is the rise of what Gov. Pritzker was talking about. It should send tremors down our spines because once that “evil” is awakened again, it is going to take tremendous force and loss of lives to put it back where it came from as history has taught us.

I wrote this piece after Governor Pritzker’s address and it speaks to the sign of the times.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker delivered his ‘State of the State’ address in Springfield Wednesday and although he spoke of many things, it was the last part that made many of us sit up and take notice. He was speaking to the heart of the matter.

Here is an excerpt:

“if you just give Donald Trump everything he wants, he’ll make an exception and spare you some of the harm….I once swallowed my pride to offer him what he values most… public praise on the Sunday news shows…..it turns out his promises were as broken as the BIPAP machines he sent us instead of ventilators.”

He went on to deliver what can only be called a punch to the gut without lifting one finger. It was eloquent, it was persuasive and it was more than powerful.

“The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe a lifetime ago didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame….I’m watching with a foreboding dread what is happening in our country here…..The authoritarian playbook is laid bare here. They point to a group of people who don’t look like you and tell you to blame them for your problems.”

He further added:

“I just have one question. What comes next? After we’ve discriminated against, deported or disparaged all the immigrants and the gay and lesbian and transgender people, the developmentally disabled, the women and the minorites – once we’ve ostracized our neighbors and betrayed our friends – After that, when the problems we started with are still there staring us in the face – what comes next.

All the atrocities of human history lurk in that answer to that question. And if we don’t want to repeat history – then for God’s sake in this moment we better be strong enough to learn from it.”

Nothing more needs to be said.

Michelle Obama

The lady wore luxury brand Monse. It was a navy blue belted number with a sleeveless jacket that had a crisscross silhouette and matching slacks. Her hair was pulled back into a long braided ponytail. The look was “futuristic” but simple at the same time. The color was subdued and did not detract from her speech which fired up and wowed the crowd at the 2024 Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.

She knew exactly why she was there and what she had to do. The message was hope. She began by saying, “Something wonderfully magical is in the air, isn’t it? A familiar feeling that’s been buried too deep for too long. You know what I’m talking about? It’s the contagious power of hope! America, hope is making a comeback.”

The applause was raucous but there was something else in the air. It was clear that Michelle Obama was a power to contend with. She kept us mesmerized as she took us through one of the best convention speeches of all time. The former First Lady not only gave a powerful and inspiring speech, she was ready to slay the dragon or rather the “Orange Julius Caesar.” She trained her eyes on the crowd and said in her no nonsense manner, “It’s time to do something,” and that became the rallying cry that rang through the crowd that night.

She wasn’t done yet. She continued, “Our fate is in our hands. In 77 days, we have the power to turn our country away from the fear, division, and smallness of the past. We have the power to marry our hope with our action.”

Then she singed it! What followed was her full support for Kamala Harris. “My girl, Kamala Harris is more than ready for this moment. She is one of the most qualified people ever to seek the office of the presidency.” And then she went after Trump and how! “Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. See, his limited narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated successful people who happen to be Black. Wait, I want to know: Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those “Black jobs?”

That was a slam dunk if you ask me and a powerful one at that. I went to bed dreaming of sugar plums and all things nice. Wait, what about Barack Obama you ask? Who needs him when Michelle Obama single-handedly slayed the dragon. Enough said.

Jealous Much?

The man of the hour walked up to the podium at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club with some papers held in his hand and a display of food items displayed prominently to his side. These included coffee, milk, cereal and breakfast sausages. However, he opened his mouth and immediately went on a rant and pounced on his main rival and nemesis, Kamala Devi Harris. She’s got him by the ba**s folks and the man is squealing like a pig!

The rant is the same old song and dance. It has nothing to do with policy issues but more to do with Trump’s pet peeve of the moment. How dare a woman of mixed race, he’s not sure if she’s Black or Indian, be in the lead position? His other disgruntled observation is that the woman in question is pretty and he went on to grudgingly admit that they had similar looks, meaning similar to his wife. The problem or rather the truth is, Kamala Harris can run circles around Melania Trump if compared to looks AND intelligence. Harris is a natural beauty with a natural raucous laugh and Mrs. Trump has had many procedures done to hone her looks. She has had lip fillers to boost that pout and Botox for her almost perfect complexion not to mention whatever procedure it took to get those “chipmunk eyes!” Melania got into the US on an Einstein Visa which is usually reserved for immigrants with “extraordinary ability” and “sustained national and international acclaim.” She was a model and dating Donald Trump in 2000 and her visa was approved in 2001. To get an EB-1, you have to meet three of 10 criteria proving excellence in their field.” Which criteria did Melania meet? I am not touching that with a 10 foot pole!

Coming back to the Bedminster rant, there was no structure or meaning to his speech. It was dotted with inaccuracies that bordered on insanity. His usual racist-tinged rant went so far as to warn Americans that under Harris “everyone gets health care” meaning all the murderous and no-good immigrants pouring into the country included. He ranted about windmills killing thousands of birds and destroying the landscape and that he was buddies with the head of the Taliban because the leader once referred to him as, “your excellency.” I bet that pumped up his you know what and I’m not referring to his “tiny” hands either! After ranting on and on, he called Harris the liberal version of Margaret Thatcher. No ifs or buts about it, the man wakes and goes to bed with Harris on his mind. She’s coming on strong and to a man who loves grabbing women by the crotch, this is totally unacceptable. Women are beneath him and the narcissist and self-proclaimed “saviour” can’t stand it! He is throwing the worst temper tantrum ever even as he watches his campaign go up in smoke!

It is chaos all around and it is not going to get any better. The more he sinks in the polls, the more he will come out swinging with UTTER NONSENCE! Do us all a favor and stop giving conferences! It is not helping you but than again keep giving them and you might just give Harris the winning hand! Looking forward to your next rant-filled and nothing more conference!
