Why Not Trump? (Archives)

Update:

I wrote this piece before Trump made it to the White House. His 100 days in office has been a nightmare. He has tanked the economy, allies are nowhere to be seen but he is not stopping there. Talks of recession are a daily prediction and he has launched an unprecedented global tariff war not to mention upending world order. Add his bold-faced lies to the picture and you’ve got more than a disaster in the making.

There are many reasons why “Orange Jesus” should not get within spitting distance of the White House again let alone take up the business of running the country from the bully pulpit.

At the top of the list of why Donald J. Trump should not be president of the United States is that the man believes that he is entitled to act with impunity and without any restrictions placed on him. He firmly believes that as the president of the United States, he is free to do whatever he likes and not be held ACCOUNTABLE for it. However, the truth of the matter is that the president is accountable to the Constitution, to the Congress and to the nation and that it is not a one-man show as he so believes.

Besides that, Trump has shown time and again that he is dishonest, a bully, manipulative, narcissistic and “crotch-grabbing” and in his world that is an added incentive to being rich and powerful and NOT a sign of disrespect to women. Add to that no remorse, no empathy, no conscience, no awareness of what is right and wrong and a full-blown ego that will not take a beating and you have a “monster” in the making. Why is he still in the running and made it this far? God only knows!

Lastly, citizen Trump is not very intelligent. We see this in his limited grasp of his vocabulary and the use of the English language. It is riddled with a few adjectives all speaking to the “ME” concept. It is ALL about him. Self-importance is his mainstay and add stupidity to that and you have a clown who knows not of what he speaks. Mind-boggling that he has made it this far.

The man will have substantial authority and power if he makes it to the White House again and that is a frightening prospect. If he makes it to the pinnacle of power, he will vent and throw his temper tantrums as he has done before and that is a given. He will not only be a danger to the country but to the people and the world as a whole. That folks is more than unsettling and downright dangerous.

“Stupid is as Stupid Does.” (Archives)

Update:

Nothing much has changed there. He has tanked the economy, the stock markets are crashing, he has picked fights with the allies and now has started the dumbest trade war ever! Nothing much is going on up there under that toupee except stupidity of the worst kind!

Trump’s modus operandi is always the same. Open mouth and insert foot! The man doesn’t care if it’s the truth, lies or made-up exaggerations. It’s all fair game to him as long as it gives him the upper hand but that is only in his mind. We know better and the fact-checkers know better too. His racist-tinged lies, inaccuracies and hoopla are affecting his campaign but he doesn’t care. Trump knows best because he is the ‘man’ as far as he is concerned.

On Thursday, he stepped up to the podium again and inserted more than his foot in his mouth this time around. He degraded veterans and gold-star families by saying that mega-donor, Miriam Adelson is a national hero. Not realizing what he had just said, he went on his merry way. According to the self-proclaimed ‘stable genius’ they are one and the same. “The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest award you can get as a civilian, it’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor, but civilian version. It’s actually much better, because everyone gets the Congressional Medal of Honor – that’s soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead.”

Hmm…..what else would you expect from someone who received five military draft deferments during the Vietnam War and is absolutely clueless about what it means to put your life on the line for your country.

Kevin D. Williamson says in his article, “Lazy, Stupid, Childish,” that “Trump’s three big problems as a candidate are precisely the same qualities that mitigated the worst of what might have been a much worse Trump presidency the last time around. He is lazy, he is stupid, and he is childish.”

Perfectly said but let’s add ‘crazy’ to that as well. He further adds, “Trump’s stupidity is wrapped up in his laziness. Anyone who has heard Trump speak or read his unedited writing knows that he is not an especially intelligent man. But his stupidity is compounded by his ignorance – the fact that he is too lazy to do his homework and acquire the kind of grasp of the issues that would make him a more effective candidate.”

No chance of that ever happening because Mr. Trump marches to his own drumbeat and his stupidity arises from that one simple fact. Mr. Williamson knows exactly why Trump’s stupidity is front and center. He says, “there is a reason he wanders all over the place in his speeches – it isn’t only arrogance and self-centeredness. He’s dumber than nine chickens.”

Michael Moore, “Fahrenheit 9/11” director is hopeful that Donald Trump will do more of the same as he faces off with Kamala Harris on the debate stage in September. His prediction is that, “Trump could struggle when facing the Democratic VP onstage. I think I’m going to see what I was hoping for eight years. Once anybody gets under that thin skin anything could happen. On live TV? Trump could explode, start talking like a 12-year-old, or get up and leave.”

Or, he could resort to name-calling, race-baiting and jump up and down like the spoiled little brat he is. Regardless of what he does, he will be facing off against a much better candidate who knows where to strike while the iron is hot. And that folks is the absolute truth and it will be something to watch.

Trump’s Messy “Word” Obsession

He was off and running during his first-term and not only banning everything left and right but it soon dawned that the man had an obsession with words.

His favorite was “huge” or rather “yuge” as he pronounced it. This was one prime example of Trump’s non-existent linguistics skill.

Believe me – it was used to hit home that he is a reliable source of information even if he got it from Twitter or whatever the hell it is called now.

Loser – He used it to describe everyone from Cher to fallen soldiers to terrorists as losers but he left himself out.

Great – Ah yes, “great” was used to describe himself and all his accomplishments. It was big talk with a lot of hot air. “I will build a great, great wall on our southern border.” Remember that one? Did he? He still has dreams of doing that one except Mexico won’t help him do it but perhaps the military will? Great is also used to bolster his “I” status. Everything is “great” when applied to his ideas and his wisdom. He loves the idea of having one president for life. “I think it’s great.” I think Trump 2.0 hasn’t changed much in that respect.

Covfefe – a non-existent word but who cares where he is concerned. This one sent everyone scrambling to uncover the true meaning of the word including yours truly but as the former press secretary, Sean Spicer said, “The President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant.” Hmm….

Winning – “You’re going to win so much you may get tired of winning.” This one refers to the Trump formula of success. There’s nowhere to go but up but when you fall or fail —there’s always another way. January 6th comes to mind.

Zero – Insults are a plenty where he’s concerned. “Crooked Hilary Clinton has zero natural talent.” Just one example but he is well-versed in them, the “insults” category that is.

Fast forward to the here and now. The 47th president hasn’t changed much. It is just the beginning of his second-term as Commander-in-Chief and one word stands out. It is COMMONSENSE! It seems to be his favorite word of the moment. Stepping onto the podium, the president spent all of 2 minutes speaking about the midair collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter followed by a moment of silence and then he was off and running blaming everything he could get his hands on.

It was the helicopter pilots, night-vision goggles, landing tracks followed by attacks aimed at Barack Obama and Joe Biden AND last but not least, diversity hires. When asked why? His answer, “Because I have commonsense, OK?”

The main point he wanted to get across was that he had it all under control and his administration wasn’t at fault. Let’s deflect blame and his “men” the recently sworn-in ones were there to heap accolades and ready to do his bidding.

Commonsense? That is far-reaching to say the least but that’s his new “buzzword” and we’ll be hearing much much more of that as the president and the man who has a limited grasp of vocabulary is concerned. It will stay that way until he comes up with a new one in the wee hours of the morning as he ponders on how to get the message across that he’s a “genius.”

“I don’t care, do you?”
