Trump’s Word Fiasco (Archives)

He is now the 47th president and nothing much has changed except that the spin cycle has revved up and is now heading to Timbuktu with no stop in sight it seems! Only now he has a co-president who is the puppet master as well!

Trump was asked this question at the prestigious Economic Club of New York.

Question: “If you win in November, can you commit to prioritizing legislation to make childcare affordable and what specific piece of legislation will you advance?”

It was a straightforward question coming from the founder of the nonprofit organization Girls Who Code. However, it was one flew over the cuckoo’s nest for Mr. Trump. It had nothing to do with Harris so that took away his power. God, this was a hard one so he went on a nearly two-minute response that made no sense and it did not answer the question either. It was a roundabout way of saying, “I don’t know!” Give me something simple like Kamala’s looks, I’m sure I can do a number on that one!

Trump’s answer: “Well, I would do that, and we’re one sitting down-you know I was, somebody we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that-because look, child care is childcare, it’s – couldn’t, you know, it’s something, you have to have it in this country you have to have it.”

That was just part of his answer but you get the drift. I had a hard time figuring out what ‘Grandpa Trump’ was trying to get across. His sentences, if you can call them that were half-cocked and made no sense but that is Trump tried and true. It was plain gibberish coming out of his mouth and to him, he had given the perfect answer, Trump fashion.

The only thing that was clear is that Trump has no policy commitments other than he wants to win the presidency on the sheer magnitude of his bigger than life persona but alas, that too is fading. How can you make sense out of something that makes no sense. You can’t.

Tomorrow, he’ll be facing his nemesis on the debate stage and it doesn’t bode well for him. Harris will step onstage, her wits about her, her 59-year-old self gleaming, her smile sparkling, hair perfectly coiffed and with answers ready to be shot off as she gets the questions thrown at her. Trump, well, the poor guy will be slaughtered even before he knows what hit him. He’ll claim she had the answers and there was something nefarious going on but if you can’t stand the heat, it’s time to get out of the kitchen!

You need a clear head and lots of commonsense to run a country but if you can’t even give a clear answer to a policy question than it’s time for you to hang up your political shoes. Let’s not forget, he couldn’t even complete his sentences so that they made some kind of sense was more than alarming. ‘Grandpa Trump’ it’s time for you to go.

Trump’s Modus Operandi!

His first term was nothing compared to what he’s doing now. Has cognitive decline set in and is it in full-force?

I was reading an interesting article by Evan Soloman called, “Trump’s Empire State of Mind.” It goes like this:

“From his threats to make Canada the 51st state, buy Greenland, reclaim the Panama Canal, and, almost implausibly, “take” the Gaza Strip, Trump isn’t hiding his ambitions.” He further adds, that Trump’s empire state of mind was front and center on Tuesday when he met with King Abdullah II of Jordan and declared or made a promise to take Gaza and “clean out the whole thing – choice words not lost on anyone remotely familiar with the worst crimes under international law – the meeting was expected to be about as uncomfortable for the royal as a crown of porcupine quills.” It was.

When asked under what authority he would take the Gaza Strip. The president replied without flinching, “Under the US authority.”

All ravings of a madman?

Add Musk’s cut, slash and burn antics and you’ve got what Rep. Hakeem Jeffries referred to as the “far-right” administration. We’re not giving a “flying flip” is the message from the current administration and if it hurts the very people who voted him in, who cares? He’s in and that’s all that matters.

Fast forward to the press conference with PM Modi and it is plain to see he’s not all there or rather “intelligence” and “commonsense” was missing royally. Does he even know what AI stands for? It is definitely what is in his head and what comes out doing leaps and bounds whenever he opens his mouth. Add his stunted grasp of the English language AND vocabulary of which a few words stand out like a sore thumb. “A lot,” “huge,” and “tremendous,” and you’ve got Trump’s delusional empire state of mind!

What the Musk?!!

The Tesla CEO and billionaire to boot has 12 children. Yes folks, he’s been busy in more ways than one. He believes in the “pro-natalist” movement which advocates having lots of kids as a remedy to population decline or it could be his contribution to world domination. Just saying.

He has had 12 children with three different women and goes by the motto, “Have money will propagate!” He has had six kids with his first wife, Justin Wilson, three with ex-girlfriend Grimes and three with his Neuralink executive girlfriend, Shivon Zilis.

Yesterday, he showed up at the White House for the Musk presser with President Trump by his side. Also present was his son with the unpronounceable name so we’ll him X. If picking his nose wasn’t enough, the cute four-year-old stole the show by mimicking his father!

Another source commented, “I’m watching Elon Musk’s son pick his nose, eat boogers and wipe them on the Resolute desk, there’s no way this kid is not annoying Trump.”

He probably did but since Musk was running the show, the orange-faced Commander-in-Chief kept his “cool” and ignored the whole thing including the kid!

Yes folks, “orange” is back in although his hair seems to be in a better shape. A new stylist or a toupee?

When asked to respond to critics who called his anti-government efforts a “hostile takeover,” Musk responded with, “The people voted for major government reform and that’s what the people are going to get.”

Spoken like the boss man.

Trump’s power grab and brazen attempts at moving away from elected officials and centralizing power in a few selected hands is more than alarming but is it an attempt at hijacking government as is and establishing an authoritarian entity, one to his liking and that of co-president Elon Musk?

Some call it, “robbing the poor to enrich the wealthy.” Nobel laureate, Paul Krugman says, “Mr. Trump’s philosophy is simple: let the uber-rich do whatever they want, with little or no oversight. The result will be vast wealth for a select few while life grows nastier and shorter for the many.” Furthermore, it is all directed at “seeking retribution against his political opponents.” He further adds that the 47th president is postering like a monarch and “the real danger is letting his illusion of power become reality.”

Chaos! Chaos! Chaos!

Rule of Law? Out the window!

The Constitution? Who cares!

Democracy? Only if it panders to the “me” aspect.

Fascism? It is in the making!

Harold Meyerson observes in The American Prospect, “As to the wider world, if we ever sought to be that beacon on the hill, we’re now the bully on the hill. America, Trumpified.”

Trump 2.0 is front and center and it is an accelerated version causing destruction as he sweeps away everything standing in his way and moving towards being the de facto leader for life!

Lord Have Mercy!

The Smackdown!

The “peacemaker” and Commander- in-Chief had this to say on Tuesday about resettling refugees outside of Gaza.

“I hope we can do something where they wouldn’t want to go back. If we can get a beautiful area to resettle people, permanently, in nice homes where they can be happy and not be shot and not be killed and not be knifed to death like what’s happening in Gaza.”

Hmm….he forgot about the bombing that destroyed the infrastructure.

On Thursday, he had this to say:

“The Palestinians, people like Chuck Schumer, would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region. They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe and free.”

Day dreaming is nice sometimes but the 47th president needs to understand that he is not the regular Joe on the street and what he says will and might have repercussions. It did. What’s that about Chuck Schumer?!!

The man who is used to jumping the gun and putting half-baked ideas out there did not reckon on the “fury” he would create in the Arab world through his thoughtless and “crazy” remarks.

Egypt and Jordan are strongly against any forced relocation of Gazans. They won’t be taking in any Palestinian refugees and Saudi Arabia is standing firm saying, “that Palestinian statehood is nonnegotiable.”

According to another source Trump’s suggestion, “has the potential to unleash revolutions and provoke state collapse in the Middle East.” Furthermore, this plan will not bring peace to the area. It will unleash a vicious cycle of violence for Israelis and Palestinians.

The smackdown is clear. The plan has nowhere to go but back where it came from. Talking without thinking, ideas that sound good at first glance but not well thought out AND “making the deal” is what this administration is all about but they are quickly learning that what the “new Messiah” has to say doesn’t always fly!

Trump’s America

It is not kind, it is not gentle, it is not compassionate but it is far-reaching and “rule of law” does not apply here.

What we’re seeing now is nothing different from his first term where throwing “bans” like hand grenades was the norm and half-thought out ideas reigned supreme. Legality was and is nothing that he’s concerned about but coming out on top as the “most powerful man on the planet” is.

Who cares about the Constitution, checks and balances, and if it’s legal or NOT! Anything that stands in his way has got to go is his motto.

Scary? It is but the 47th President marches to a different drumbeat. He has lost sight of “government of the people by the people and for the people.” Does it ring any bells? Running, even if it means running in place, makes up his daily existence and coming up with new “bans” in the early morning hours seems to make up his presidency. Notwithstanding shock tactics, drama, theatrics and “lovefests” with dictator types and you’ve got the whole picture and not a pretty one at that.

Add Elon Musk to the whole kit and caboodle and you’ve got disaster in the making. Remember him? The Tesla CEO, Jack of all Trades and more recently lover of all things “right wing” which led to the Hitler salute that had the world sitting up and taking notice? He has toned it down, more specifically the salute of the “Sieg Heil!” variety, it’s now a watered-down version, more like the Queen’s wave with a smile to match but he’s not fooling anyone!

Where is all of this headed? Your guess is as good as mine but if you’re waiting for “kinder and gentler” to return, don’t hold your breath! It has flown the coop and if you think it’s “bad” now, I think it will only get worse.

Dictatorship in the making? What do you think?

Time to put on my shoes and go get some fresh air!

Trump’s Messy “Word” Obsession

He was off and running during his first-term and not only banning everything left and right but it soon dawned that the man had an obsession with words.

His favorite was “huge” or rather “yuge” as he pronounced it. This was one prime example of Trump’s non-existent linguistics skill.

Believe me – it was used to hit home that he is a reliable source of information even if he got it from Twitter or whatever the hell it is called now.

Loser – He used it to describe everyone from Cher to fallen soldiers to terrorists as losers but he left himself out.

Great – Ah yes, “great” was used to describe himself and all his accomplishments. It was big talk with a lot of hot air. “I will build a great, great wall on our southern border.” Remember that one? Did he? He still has dreams of doing that one except Mexico won’t help him do it but perhaps the military will? Great is also used to bolster his “I” status. Everything is “great” when applied to his ideas and his wisdom. He loves the idea of having one president for life. “I think it’s great.” I think Trump 2.0 hasn’t changed much in that respect.

Covfefe – a non-existent word but who cares where he is concerned. This one sent everyone scrambling to uncover the true meaning of the word including yours truly but as the former press secretary, Sean Spicer said, “The President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant.” Hmm….

Winning – “You’re going to win so much you may get tired of winning.” This one refers to the Trump formula of success. There’s nowhere to go but up but when you fall or fail —there’s always another way. January 6th comes to mind.

Zero – Insults are a plenty where he’s concerned. “Crooked Hilary Clinton has zero natural talent.” Just one example but he is well-versed in them, the “insults” category that is.

Fast forward to the here and now. The 47th president hasn’t changed much. It is just the beginning of his second-term as Commander-in-Chief and one word stands out. It is COMMONSENSE! It seems to be his favorite word of the moment. Stepping onto the podium, the president spent all of 2 minutes speaking about the midair collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter followed by a moment of silence and then he was off and running blaming everything he could get his hands on.

It was the helicopter pilots, night-vision goggles, landing tracks followed by attacks aimed at Barack Obama and Joe Biden AND last but not least, diversity hires. When asked why? His answer, “Because I have commonsense, OK?”

The main point he wanted to get across was that he had it all under control and his administration wasn’t at fault. Let’s deflect blame and his “men” the recently sworn-in ones were there to heap accolades and ready to do his bidding.

Commonsense? That is far-reaching to say the least but that’s his new “buzzword” and we’ll be hearing much much more of that as the president and the man who has a limited grasp of vocabulary is concerned. It will stay that way until he comes up with a new one in the wee hours of the morning as he ponders on how to get the message across that he’s a “genius.”

“I don’t care, do you?”

The Bully is Back

Photo by Yan Krukau on Pexels.com

This time with gloves off and in full-frontal mode! He’s off and running and he’s got something to prove and that is he keeps his promises, those of the unsavoury kind!

As promised, his first day back in the Oval Office was a flurry of activity and that pen, the one he uses to sign the executive orders saw little rest as the 47th president and now Commander-in-Chief showed the world and America, “Don’t f**k with me!” He doesn’t always mean what he says but if you cross him or get caught in the cross hairs, there’s a price to pay.

Let’s forget about kinder and gentler, that was never his strong suit. It’s all on the surface but what dwells within is a whole different story altogether. We saw “kinder and gentler” depart two days ago when former president, Joe Biden and First Lady, Jill Biden took their last flight out of there.

Now, it’s first things first as far as the “new sheriff” is concerned. He has pardoned and commuted sentences of “roughly 1500 defendants charged with crimes connected to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, including some convicted of assaulting police officers.” He has also directed the attorney general to dismiss all indictments pending related to the largest federal investigation ever. I guess now that he has walked free, the others deserve the same as well. Who cares about rule of law? He definitely doesn’t. Let me take that back. He does but only when it pertains to him and his supporters.

He has also ordered all federal diversity, equity and inclusion employees be placed on paid leave starting Wednesday and he has directed government agencies to draw up plans for firing workers in DEI roles. Why? He wants to end “the scourge of DEI and return America to a merit based society.” Right…someone should tell him that “color,” “race,” and “religion,” has always played a big part in American society. Let’s take it way back, why don’t we? Former President Joe Biden signed actions bolstering racial equality when he took office in 2021. Let’s undo them all is Trump’s priority.

He also signed numerous executive orders affecting LGBTQ people and immigrants. Two of his pet peeves. There will be more to come as he puts his “revenge” agenda front and center!

Is your head spinning? I know mine is. Shoes on and off in nature to let it calm my frazzled nerves.

Have an amazing day.

Here We Go!

The 47th President, Donald John Trump was sworn in with pomp and circumstance and the celebrations still continue as Americans celebrate, well some are while others look on with mistrust and even horror at a new era of who knows what. Coming back to the inauguration, it was a peaceful transfer of power and it was for all purposes democracy in action as it should be. Remember what happened 4 years ago when Trump lost and the instigated attack that ensued on the Capitol? This time around there was none of that and you know why.

The new president has promised, “Your head will spin when you see what’s going to happen,” referring to his plans for Day 1 of his administration. Nothing new here because President Trump is known to run before he can walk.

On the agenda are immigration raids in major metropolitan areas to deport undocumented migrants. Following that or perhaps not in that order are the January 6, 2021 defendants waiting for pardons to be handed down which Trump has promised and others across the globe will be awaiting to see what plans he will put in action as far as “tariffs, land grabs and an end to grinding wars.” He has promised to issue more than 100 executive actions during his first week in office.

A new sheriff is in town folks and he’s going to make it be known that he’s the boss. All just hot air? It could be but it could be different this time around according to one of his advisors as told to CNN. “We want to come in and show just how serious we are. Trump is back, it’s go time. Like a shock to the system.”

Hmm….

Yes folks, the spin cycle is on and it will be dizzying to say the least. What about retribution? Remember he promised to “investigate and punish his adversaries, especially those involved in his four prosecutions and the congressional investigation of the Jan 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. However, President Biden might have made a preemptive strike on that one. Joe Biden has issued last minute pardons to Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley and members of the House Committee that investigated the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol, including former Representative Liz Cheney.

Did this move take the wind out of Trump’s sails? You can bet your bottom dollar it did but who knows what else he has up his sleeve. All will be made clear in time as a new Trump era dawns in Washington. Will we see a kinder, gentler and classier Trump now that he has the tech giants by his side or will it be business as usual. You know the schoolyard bullying antics of throwing temper tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. Will there be more of the same?

I think the real Trump will show up sooner or later. It is just a matter of time before he steps out thumping his nose at rule of law. Donald J. Trump is not known for “grace under pressure” and so I say, don’t hold your breath as far as the person he presented yesterday, the one who wants to Make America Again and his role as a peacemaker and unifier notwithstanding all the promises he rolled out. Many have tried and failed and if it was as easy as that, it would have been done already. The problem is wanting it and getting it are two different concepts altogether. It takes more than a scripted speech to do that and he is fully aware of it or perhaps not.

One thing is for sure, there will be much for the press to talk about, to decipher and shred as he takes office and goes about showing America and the world that he is the “new Messiah” and only he and he alone can right the wrongs and get everyone back on track. A big job for an old man who can’t even keep his thoughts in line, let alone one who has trouble making complete sentences that make sense!

Good luck and may God Bless America and the rest of the world.

The Musk Hoopla!

Photo by Donald Tong on Pexels.com

I wrote this article last year when Trump was running to be the 47th president and since then he has bagged the presidency. However, the man behind the scene, Elon Musk, is where we should be placing our attention. Can money buy an election? The man in question is now dabbling in politics and how. It seems he has a love affair with far-right organizations. Take it across the pond and that’s where he is zooming in with a hawk-like presence. His lovefest with Alice Weidel was evident as he backed her as the leading candidate to run Germany. She is currently the chancellor candidate for AfD. The multibillionaire is deadset on using his global platform as a megaphone to get his views heard and maybe more than that.

He once asked his 211 million followers if “America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government,” by voting. To which, Robert Ford, a professor of politics at the University of Manchester, had this to say. “Musk has a very distorted understanding of British politics, and yet he’s got a megaphone.” That megaphone and the money behind it could distort, derail and maybe even get the wrong person elected. Just saying.

This is the article I wrote last year:

Trump’s major interview with Elon Musk almost got derailed because of a huge technical problem but it got back on track after a 40 plus minute delay and when it did, the bromance flourished between the former president and the Space X Founder.

The former president felt so safe in Musk’s presence that he went off-script and unleashed at least 20 false claims. He ran the gamut and let loose his falsehoods with Elon Musk giving him his undivided attention. The former Commander in Chief and all around liar gripped about crime rates, inflation, Global warming (of which he knows nothing about) and anything else he saw fit to throw into the mix. It didn’t matter if they were lies or gross exaggerations. Things like that don’t matter to a seasoned pathological liar and a true narcissist.

According to NPR, he told 162 lies and distortions in his news presser at Mar-a-Lago within 1 hour. The NPR team found at least 162 misstatements, exaggerations and outright lies in 64 minutes and that’s more than two a minute. “It’s a stunning number for anyone – and even more problematic for a person running to lead the free world.” They further added that, “what former President Trump did this past Thursday went well beyond the bounds of what most politicians would do.” The Musk interview was no different.

EU’s commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, cautioned X founder and Tech mogul Musk asking him to censor the interview to avoid “the amplification of harmful content.” He went on to say that Musk “has a legal obligation to comply with the Digital Services Act to fight the spread of misinformation as the man in charge of the platform used by over 300 million people worldwide.”

Musk’s reply went like this. “Take a big step back and literally f**k your own face!” The man is not a novice when faced with censorship. In July, EU charged X for failing to respect its social media laws. He also faced recent criticism for fanning the flames as far-right riots broke out in the UK claiming the perpetrator of the Southport stabbings was Muslim which was an untruth.

How smart is Musk? According to Noam Mendelssohn, a Software Engineer, “Elon Musk is not very bright. He’s an economic and business bully in the same line as Trump, but nothing more. Any engineer worth his salt, any person with basic physics knowledge or computer knowledge can shred his ideas.” He went on to add, “His solar plans are flawed, his calculations on his TED interview are about 100x off, Tesla was not his idea, he strongarmed his way in and his hyperloop idea being even worse.” So how did he make his money? Mendelssohn had this answer. “He has a hype that is believed by simpletons and he is making his money by being a snake oil salesman.” Two peas in a pod? No wonder the bromance took off like a rocket and is till flying around in space somewhere!

Joseph Costello, Harris campaign spokesperson, had this to say about the interview.

“Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself – self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024.”

The interview was a flop in more ways than one. Nothing new, same old lies, exaggerated insults coming from an “old” man who is trying to give his sagging and deflated campaign a helping hand but unfortunately for him, it is going to take more than what he has in that thing he calls a brain to do that!
