My Daily Playtime?

Photo by Jakub Zerdzicki on Pexels.com

I do have one thing I try to do everyday and that is to play with Chachi, the cat. We’ve come up with a different version of hide-and-seek and the little guy knows exactly what to do! I hide and he needs to find me. The difference to this version is that when he finds me and I catch him, he gets 10 kisses each time.

It’s not about the finding but the kisses that matters. Some days he walks away with more than 30 kisses but who’s counting! I love giving him kisses and he loves getting them and that’s what counts. It is a sort of bonding time for us but let me tell you, I am pooped by the time we finish! He walks off with a grin on his face if you can call it that, happy with the world and with his mommy.

My Biggest Challenges (Archives)

I think it is learning to undo some learned patterns and behavior traits. We become accustomed to what is comfortable and that doesn’t necessarily mean good for us. The same goes for me. I tend to be very accepting of things that do not serve me knowing full well that they don’t but instead of putting a stop to it I make excuses and that right there is my problem. Sometimes being “nice” doesn’t necessarily bring the same into your life.

This year I need to stop being nice and accepting of things I know that are not good for me and learn to break the patterns that enable such behavior. It starts with looking within to see why such patterns exist and that is not a comfortable thing to do. It means owning up to and accepting what is there and changing it for the better. Not always easy to do.

Nostalgic Longings

I think it is those days when I was young and running wild as the proverbial tomboy in the woods behind my home. It was a time of freedom and not caring for the norms that life or society stipulates on how you should be. No rules, no regulations and no listening to that inner voice, just letting go and living life as it was meant to be.

Those days are gone but I if I had a chance to go back there again, I would! Some days the rebellion sets in and I still jump in duck puddles when no one is looking but it is far and few. I am all prim and proper now but don’t let that fool you, there is that little “wild child” still inside of me. Some days I revisit those days and it still brings a smile to my face. Good memories of days gone by but still precious and they live on in the grown-up me. Mom, if you’re listening, I am more like you wanted me to be, more of a “lady” but I can tell you, it is NOT that much fun!

Relationships (Archives)

In my opinion, relationships are hard. There are ups and downs and sometimes they don’t contribute to your well-being. I find it hard navigating through relationships and at times I’ve had to let some go because it didn’t serve me and my needs.

One relationship that has had a positive impact on me is the one I have with Chachi, the cat. This little guy is a handful and a macho at times but if there is a “perfect” relationship then this is it. It is one where I do the talking and he listens. Not always but that adoring look does go straight to the heart. What he is really thinking that is another story altogether! We know our boundaries and as long as that is respected all is well in this household. It is a sort of give and take but what I get from him is hard to explain. It is comfort, warmth and definitely love as Chachi sees fit and that too is part and parcel of this relationship. Not always a win-win situation but I’ll take it. I am more relaxed in his presence and less stressed and that has made a positive impact on my life.

If I Started a Sports Team…

It would have bright colors, something eye-catching as the logo. Add, Chachi, the cat as the mascot and you’ve got a winning team. The cry would be, “Fast, Furious and Fight! Fight! Fight! ”

The little cutie is a macho in disguise! Any sports team would be proud to have him as their mascot. He looks like a little lion at times and with his cross-legged stance, he draws you in like a magnet!

My Political Views Over Time

I can be very political having written numerous articles over the subject but these days I tend to back away and stay quiet at times when I shouldn’t. However, when something seems so unjust or is colored with racist undertones, I speak out as I did with my article on “Magdeburg Germany,” where the horrific Christmas market killings took place.

Perhaps, my article “Trumpenitus” speaks clearly on my shift from being a Trump supporter to speaking out against him and his policies. Some people I know tend to have the same views but do nothing about it but I believe that “words” do have power and it can be used to bring good to an otherwise unjust world at times.

My Perfect Space for Reading and Writing.

This one is easy because I already have it. It’s a room I call my office space, not too big and not too small. Just cozy and perfectly furnished but with lots of clutter because “clutter” somehow gets my creative juices flowing.

It has one big window and if I look up while I’m writing, I see the fields in the distance and today they are shrouded in fog. Sort of spooky looking but enough to get some ideas going. Just in front of the window is a big Japanese Cherry Blossom tree which is gorgeous in spring when in full bloom. Right now, it looks bare with little droplets of water clinging to its branches. Still a pretty sight.

This is my perfect space and if I add Chachi, the cat, sitting on the window ledge than this space becomes more than perfect.

My All Time Favorite Automobile?

I’ve always wondered about this. I think men and women think differently about cars. Women, at least I do, think that’s it not that important to have fast expensive cars. If it is dependable and works fine, I am happy. However, men or at least the ones I have known love fast expensive cars. It might just be a “men thing.”

Or it might be a show-off thing. Maybe it adds to their manliness but either way, I find it puzzling.

How are you creative?

I paint pictures with words rather than with a paintbrush. My imagination knows no bounds and even though it is a problem at times, it helps with my writing. I am able to take a thought, expand it and come up with a story and it helps to calm the “beast” which is my mind. I used to call it the “monkey” because it jumps and chatters all the time but I am learning to control my thoughts and that is a good thing.

I create with my mind and have done well so far. Let’s see what the new year brings. Hoping for much better and on a bigger scale!

The Biggest Influences…

Who are the biggest influences in my life?

There were many so I can’t mention them all here. One person I would like to give credit to would be my mother. She taught me the biggest lesson which has stood the test of time. I remember as a little girl I would come running to her about something that made me cry or sad and she would say, “Remember whatever you do and whatever happens, always stand back up. Take your time, but dust off and get back on that horse.” I have been doing that all my life and it has helped me through the years.

Others who influenced me are the writers. One person in particular was Nora Roberts. I loved and love her writing. The romance novelist was one of my all- time favorite person. There were many nights where I lay cuddled in bed with one of her books helping me to escape whatever it is that I wanted to escape and to keep my head somewhere in the clouds. I think in a way she helped me fashion my writing. Thank you both.
