Rewriting a Book’s Ending
Didn’t we have this question already? This one seems very familiar.
Anyway, I would leave it as is. If an author thought it was good enough the way they ended the story, who am I to question their thought process. Of course, we want fairytale endings where the girl gets the guy, everything turns out for the best after crying a waterfall of tears and so on. However, I think there is a rhyme or rather a reason as to why authors come up with the endings they do. The story is in their hands and they can do whatever they want with it!
Too early in the morning to come up with better endings. Question asked and answered.

Dreaming Big
To tell you the truth, I don’t dream big these days. I take each day as it comes and at the end of the day I say, “You made it through today and that is enough.”
I used to have big dreams but now it is about “learning” as I go along. However, I would like to see my son make it. He is on his way and it took a lot of work, energy, and pain to get him there. Children are not easy and trying to raise a child as a single mom was definitely not easy. There was trial and error involved and some days I wanted to just give up and say, “I can’t do this!” I didn’t. I kept on. Somehow we made it.
He is standing on his own two feet now. Earning enough to have a nice apartment and more than enough for all his needs. The important thing, he says he is happy with what he is doing. That right there is important. It makes life so much easier.
However, he is not all the way there yet His six month probationary period is coming up and I HOPE he makes it! In the meantime, he is traveling and doing the best he can. I think he is fully capable of achieving anything and everything he wants to achieve in life. He just needs to put one foot in front of the other and keep on moving!
My biggest dream would be to see him succeed. I want to see him do things on his own and not run to mommy for help. He is already doing that, “mommy” is standing on the sidelines and watching him do his thing.
He was on a business trip this week and he did it all on his own. No help needed! Needless to say, I was climbing walls wondering if he was alright but that’s just the helicopter mom in me!
I hope by next year he will handle things on his own and I will be the “wind beneath his wings.” Still there to help if he needs it but no longer the mainstay.
A big dream? Definitely.

The Promise I Am Keeping
This is a promise I intend to keep. Staying away from cheaters, men who don’t mean what they say, and the losers! There’s the door, out you go!
I started on a journey early last year or maybe even earlier. I needed to find out what makes me gravitate to the same type of men. The no-good, lying, two-timers! It seems like I am a heat-seeking missile where these types are concerned. I always find them!
One thing I found about this type of behavior is that we go for what we are accustomed to. Perhaps, it is the familiarity or the comfort they bring, not in a good way but it is comfortable nonetheless. I’ve veered away from such people and I run, not walk, when I see one approaching. This journey I am on has taught me many things about myself. One is that I am too nice where these afore-mentioned types are concerned. Shut the door and MOVE ON is my motto now.
I am keeping to that promise, it’s not easy but so far so good. They do come out of the woodwork where I’m concerned. I must have a sign on my forehead that says, “Here I am. I’m willing to accept your cheating excuses!” Not anymore.
Cheaters get lost! You no longer have the power that you used to have. Bad boy behavior is no longer a turn-on. It is an absolute no-go.

The Time is Nearing
It is getting close. Shiro, the white Persian, and Gallahad, the British-long hair, will be leaving on the 9th of August. I’ve had them here for almost three months. Funny, how time flies.
No, I wasn’t having fun. It was WORK and at times more work than I wanted to deal with. There was also the problem of trying to get all three to work together as a unit. Unity is not what cats are about! They have their own characters and they want what they want just like I do!
Shiro wanted her daddy back. She had to deal with me and her spoiled ways had to be curbed because the nice lady wasn’t putting up with her antics. She learned that quickly. She loves meowing and she learned to curb that as well. I must say, she is a well-behaved little girl now! I will miss her.
Gallahad is looking healthy and active as well. However, food is still at the top of his list. He has lost some weight but his butt still waddles when he walks. The little guy is a sweetheart and has grown close to my heart.
Chachi is learning to share although it has been hard on him. Unfortunately, they will be leaving and he will be on his own again. I have a toy box filled with his favorite toys and the two, Shiro and Galli, have been playing with the toys. I decided to get them their own toy box as a going away present. I got an identical box and filled it with some of Chachi’s old toys, the ones he doesn’t play with, and some new ones. He walked in, took one look and looked at me. I left the room and when I walked back in, the toys were on my bed and pillow! It was his way of saying, “I would rather you have them!” He still has a hard time sharing but he is not so much of a macho now. I guess Shiro has him whipped!
It will be hard to see them go. I won’t miss the work and getting up at 5 in the mornings because Shiro and Gallahad have decided that they are hungry and the “food lady” needs to get moving!
It’s funny how the things you are against are the very things you will miss. Life has a way of changing things. I know that my son, their daddy, will be over the moon to see them again. So, that is a good thing but I will miss “the two” and their personalities.
I’m sure there will be a next time but not too soon please! I need a break.
The Lady Herself!
I would love to sit down to dinner with Elizabeth Bennett. I’ve written about her before and I love her character. Last year, someone told me that I reminded him of her in many ways. I took it as a compliment but I think he didn’t mean it as such. He thought I was way too complicated! We’re not seeing each other anymore.
Who is this character? She is the protagonist in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. The lady is intelligent, knows what she wants, and witty to boot. She is also fiercely independent. At a time when marriage was based on gaining financial security, she chose to settle for love. Her journey with Mr. Darcy was wrought with complexities but she wants what she wants. She is judgmental and has a mind of her own which is rare back in those days.
Her nicknames are Lizzy and Eliza but don’t let that sweetness fool you. She is strong-willed and perhaps as stubborn as a mule but her character is also lovable although filled with flaws.
Sitting down to dinner with her would be a dream come true. I have always admired and adored her and imagine all the stories we can tell and share!

Definitely! It is also hitting way below the belt but there are some great minds out there and I got a laugh out of these.
All Things Dyson!
The friend who passed away introduced me to them. He brought two Dyson fans one day and I was hooked! In a country where air-conditioning is frowned upon, the fans are a godsent. They are quiet and they do the job of cooling things down like a pro and I still use them.
Then it was my turn. I bought a Dyson vac, a big one, a small one, and one for the mattress as well! They work like a dream with little work and since I have three cats here now, vacuuming the stairs doesn’t require some heavy-duty machine lugged up and down the stairs but a hand-held version that does the job better than any traditional vacuum cleaner can. They are expensive but worth the money.
I also bought a Dyson hairdryer with all the attachments. It uses less energy, cuts out the damage that normal hairdryers cause and since I have long hair, I wanted something that does the job in half the time. It didn’t disappoint and works like a dream as well.
Dyson has a heat and cool gadget out now. It cools in summer and heats up the room in winter. I’ve got my eyes on that machine but haven’t bought one yet. Not to say I won’t do it!
I wouldn’t say that the Dyson purchases are the best I’ve ever made but they come close and this is one technology I can work with!
